Jo Fletcher-Cross checks into a night of contemporary luxury in a historic spa town
In the heart of Tunbridge Wells’ historic Pantiles area, this 39-room hotel is set in a former brewery. A double-height atrium provides an impressive entrance space, a modern contrast to the classic red-brick exterior. Interiors are sleek, with muted silvers and greys and walnut furnishings, and lots of contemporary art and some fabulous chandeliers. Hypnos beds are extremely comfortable and our room is huge, easily accommodating two adults and a child with lots of space to spare. The bathroom is excellent, with a monsoon rain shower and Temple Spa toiletries. We had a pleasant dinner in the Mediterranean-style L’AMORE restaurant, which is also where our continental breakfast was served. It’s a contemporary, slick hotel, in a perfect location for this well-heeled town.
