Hannah Doherty beds down at a luxury hotel 20km north of Copenhagen
Standing outside Kurhotel Skodsborg, the scene is stark and Scandi: a light drizzle is falling, the sea behind me is grey and uninviting. Stepping inside, however, the staff are warm and welcoming; the lounge — decked out with vast sofas and a grand piano — is homely; and the stylish bar beckons. My suite is light and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out towards the ocean. Design is understated, though brightly coloured blankets and throws add a touch of hygge. The Restaurant by Kroun offers a secluded spot for dining. Each of the seven courses is paired with a different wine and a ‘matching’ healthy fruit drink. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxing wellness retreat, offering forest to one side and ocean to the other, plus a handy rail connection into Copenhagen.
