Farida Zeynalova beds down at the 5* hotel just a few minutes from Lisbon’s main attractions
The five-star Altis Grand Hotel is on a quiet street just a few steps from the fashionable Avenida da Liberdade. Service is impeccable from the get-go. The Deluxe Room, subtly decorated in cream and beige with wood and leather furnishings, provides ample space and all the necessary amenities. I make a beeline for the new GSpa, where the deeply relaxing ‘G Stress’ massage, using aromatic grape oil, prepares me for a restful night. Dinner is at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, The Grill D. Fernando, where I opt for sea bass and organic vegetables, which taste divine. A jazz duo start singing in the corner as I sip white wine and take in the panoramic city views. Back in the room, the traditional Portuguese custard tart and glass of port waiting for me on the table is a thoughtful touch.
